This song was re-worded, arranged, played, sung, recorded, animated and filmed by a losely organised group of space, music and film enthusiasts during their lunchbreaks, weekends and evenings, with no budget and no agenda. This project is just for fun and your viewing pleasure, promotes noone and nothing, and is in no way affiliated with any international organisations some of us may view as their customers in our professional lives. None of the project team are ESA staff. No spacecraft were harmed during the filming. Please, consult your planetary scientist if Jupiter is right for you. Side-effects may include euphoria, earworm and incessant humming. JUICE - European mission to the icy moons of Jupiter, abbreviation stands for JUpiter ICy moons Explorer. Launch date: 2023-04-13. Cruise - the part of the spaceflight when spacecraft is trying to get somewhere before it really starts the main science observations of the mission. Patching - sending spacecraft new software to correct or adjust its functionality. Pass time - a time period when spacecraft is in the view of a specific ground station antenna and can "talk to Earth". Logging - like stashing, but with data. TM - telemetry, the data spacecraft send to Earth. The Science - here used for the scientific part of telemetry, as not everything that the spacecraft sends "down" is science observation data. There is also housekeeping telemetry (sort of a health report) and a lot of assorted confirmations and data checksums. Mission Control does not usually process The Science, but passes them to the scientists. But it's good to check that Ground has logged some good data from time to time. Jupiter - one of the gaseous giants of our Solar system, as far as we know, likely without a solid core. FAQ: Who are those people doing weird stuff and why? Glad you have asked - what an excellent question! Those are the Instruments. They are some of the people who indeed play the instruments you hear, and they also represent the science instruments onboard the spacecraft. JUICE wakes them up from the slumber of Cruise to start their scientific data collection and then acknowledges (by nodding) all the data they give her before forwarding them to Earth.
