@MvPsweden3 years agoaah some good old ODST music in the beginning 15
@
@kokolekroko8823 years agoOk the ODST music in the intro got me, so much nostalgy, this music is a bit like my Madeleine de Proust (I Wonder if this expression and these Books are known or traduced in English. I'd Say so knowing how famous they are but I'm not sure) ...16

@itscold3163 years agoI'd go for a monocular instead of binoculars just to save a little bit of weight, plus it's easy to get a honeycomb for one and the NV and thermal and rangefinding ones are reasonably priced. Fieldcraft I know you didn't get into but a really good wiresaw is great. And maybe a good lightweight but sizeable entrenching tool for a listening/observation post setup. A good fine mesh sniper veil soaked in a strong bug repellant essential oil made from an area plant that you can have over your hat or helmet is a good idea. Also a good idea to have a friend make sure you don't 'glow'. Lastly some appetite suppressant pills are nice. ...2

@recondo8863 years agomy Stockard and Yale Lensatic compass is always close at hand, I keep a protractor and writing material in an empty MRE bag(dark brown). my recon LBE is from the 1980s to include a large ALICE rucksack. equipment and tactics may change but the mindset and the mission stay the same. "Hard Times Never Last, Hard Men Do" -Recondo ...2

@richardschafer78583 years agoI was recon with 3/325 ABCT stationed in Vicenza (years ago). We cross trained with Marine recon and Brit units as well. Even attended ILRRPS with them. We kept it light and fast. Granted, the rucks were heavy, especially my RTO loadout. ...5
@
@stevenmaitland35363 years agoYou’ve made my day even better with this vid. I still think you and Chris The Cop should start a collab involving stuff like CQB training and tactics.👍 5

@
@E3W2A3 years agoIn my kit I also carried a small VS17 panel, a fixed blade knife and a small escape and evade kit/ survival kit just in case nothing to crazy most of that was on my belt. Haven't used one since 2014 though. Great basics on a Recce kit. ...1

@
@legion1623 years agoI've never served, but I just assumed that the military supplied any and all kit that would require, so was a little surprised when you said stuff from amazon/eBay. Does equipment that you've bought yourself have to be cleared for use by higher ups, or because of your more specialist role are you given more leeway on what you take into potential combat zones. Anyways, brilliant content showing your personal preference for your base load out, pretty interesting and informative. ...17

@jamesh69663 years agoI was a 19D for 10 years. I was partial to the rhodesian style kit. Very versatile for LRRS ops. oz =lbs. Wax pen is a must for jotting quick reference grids and comms on the windshield (route recon) also have some paper/pen for sector sketch (area recon). I also like a radio pouch and rubber bands for harris. ...
