In the highlands of Scotland in the 1700s, Rob Roy tries to lead his small town to a better future by borrowing money from the local nobility, Marquis of Montrose, to buy cattle to herd to market. Unfortunately, the Marquis' lackey, Archibald Cunningham, discovers the deal and interferes. The money never shows up, the Marquis is determined to take McGregor's land as payment, and McGregor is forced to become an outlaw. http://imdb.com/title/tt0114287/

    @Karliene9 years ago Used to watch this on Windows 95 along with the 'Wheezer - Buddy Holly" music video and I remember being amazed that I could move the video around the screen, make it bigger and make it tiny. Oh how easily I was entertained back then.

    @Choungui15 years ago I got something great yesterday: a photo of my great grandfather. Rob Roy's grandson (Ranald's son) became a 'trader' and transported a young woman from Ghana to Jamaica. They had a daughter, whose son by a plantation owner was sent back to england. He married a Jacobite and became a ship captain, and moved to Tasmania with his family. ...

Rob Roy was during the 1719 Jacobite Uprising, The novel was set during 1745 Jacobite Uprising. So 26 yrs wouldn't have a lot of changes. ...
