For 20 years now, Survivor has managed to keep the audiences entertained. In this day and age when television serials struggle beyond one or two seasons, Survivor has managed to deliver 40 successful seasons, a big feat in itself. The very idea of a bunch of individuals living on an island, far away from the world they are used to and adapting themselves to mother Nature, is an enticing one. However, while a good idea is a key element, it, alone, isn't enough to make any show a success. What goes behind a successful show is the hard work of hundreds of crew members, proper planning and execution, and some cheating and romance. In this video, we will tell you some secrets about Survivor that will put into perspective the popularity of the show. Survivor is an American reality TV show based on Expedition Robinson, a Swedish reality game show created by Charlie Parsons. The first episode of Survivor aired in 2000, with Jeff Probst as its host. The show has been going strong for twenty years now and has developed a cult following. Survivor did not take much time to become the hot favorite of American viewers and become the first profitable reality TV show in the history of American television. During the first eleven seasons, the show consistently maintained a spot in the top ten. Every year sixteen to twenty people are chosen as Survivors or Castaways. These contestants are then divided into two groups called Tribes and sent to some remote and deserted island for 39 days. The tribes compete against each other for essential items to improve their living condition as well as for gaining immunity from elimination. The game follows progressive elimination, with those not doing well eventually getting eliminated from the show. In the end, the lone Survivor wins a grand prize of $1 million. Over the years, Survivor has been nominated for several Emmy Awards. The show's host, Jeff Probst, has taken home four Emmys for Outstanding Host for a Reality or Reality-Competition Program. The show's 40th season celebrated the 20th anniversary of the show and ended on May 13, 2020. The production on the next two seasons has become delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. In this video, we tell you some fun and interesting facts about the Survivors and the series itself. Like this content?
